Our ethics & rules

Before you decide to join us on a program, it is important that we discuss a few things to make sure that we are the right fit for one another. Ethics, expectations, rules, safety, are better aligned first so that everyone feels comfortable.

Ethics

CRCP IS AN NGO

NATURE COMES FIRST

WE ARE NERDS

WE ARE PROFESSIONALS

LearnWithCRCP is the education platform of the environmental NGO CRCP. As our advocacy is to protect the environment, our passion is to teach, to share how wonderful and fascinating nature is and help you grow skills or knowledge to support its protection.

In our way of thinking, respect for nature, will always comes first. This is why we organize programs in small groups, may have entry requirements for programs, have rules, have all meals strictly vegetarians, and are generally doing our best in trying to manage our environmental footprint. We hope that you will value this.

The team is composed of individuals with very different skills and personalities, but we all have 1 thing in common: passion for nature. To teach, to inspire, to protect.

We are on a mission. Our mission is to advocate for nature, and while you join us, we plan to help you build knowledge and skills in the most creative way possible so that you may have the best memory of your immersion in nature. For us, the best way, is also the safest way, for this, we have strict rules that we do not compromise. Have a read below and make sure that you are ok with them.

7 rules of any program with CRCP

1.

Environmental footprint.

We are trying to be conscious about the products we choose, where they are sourced, packaged and who they support. All meals / snacks provided by CRCP during your stay are strictly vegetarian (unless you opted for vegan!). If you wish to consume any other products, you may do on your own time and own budget. Please be respectful and refrain from doing so during program activities (8am-4pm), we all are trying to inspire each other.

2.

Respect for nature.

Environmental education is our advocacy, and though we will always try to approach our courses and programs the fun way, we can be strict when it comes to impacting nature.

  • No touching any wildlife underwater,

  • No collecting shells on the beach,

  • No collecting / pulling plants, leaves or flowers in the forest,

  • No chemical products used before immersing in nature: only reef safe sunscreen and nature friendly insect-repellent

  • No harassing wildlife: respect safe distance for you and them, and back-away if they signal stress

3.

Safety procedures: no alcohol or drugs

Whether you are joining us for a walk in nature, a snorkel or a scuba dive in the ocean, your enjoyment is important to us and your safety our priority. Whether you are joining us for a day, a week or months, keep the party mood for after the program. We are conducting physical activities and need you to be fit & alert.

  • Try to have a good night sleep and hydrate before any excursion in nature

  • No drinking of alcohol nor consumption of drugs during our program or the night before any excursion in nature. We have a zero tolerance policy on drugs. We might close our eyes if you had 1 glass of beer or 1 glass or wine, but we will not accept you to join the activities if you had more (we will not provide you with any refund). They might lead you to be excessively dehydrated the next day and an excursion in nature (especially if scuba diving) might be dangerous for you (and impact the whole group). Be mindful! You can drink and go party all night when the program is over or on days off! :)

4.

Safety procedures while scuba diving

  • We take pride in making sure all gear is new or well maintained. All participants will be reminded how to assemble and safety check their gear. For the length of the program it will be your responsibility to do so before every dive.

  • Buddy system: we always dive in groups and have assigned buddies for safety. Keep a safe distance (5 meters maximum) while diving, monitor your air, and be attentive to your instructor if you wish to follow the class.

  • If you get lost, look for 1 minute and reunite with the group at the surface. No solo diving is accepted.

  • Observe safe behavior underwater and listen to any safety instructions given by the instructor.

  • We may choose to abort the dive as a group at any moment if we feel safety is compromised (equipment, behavior, stronger current, etc.). You also have the right to call off the dive at any time.

5.

Health & Physical fitness

  • All participants for marine activities shall already know how to swim, float and be comfortable using fins and mask. This is a requirement to join our marine programs.

  • All scuba dives are shore dives, please make sure that you are comfortable carrying yourself and your gear in and out of the water (approx. 15kg). (An assistant can be hired for 500php per day to help you if you let us know ahead.) We will swim in and out, wear reef safe sunscreen or a cap if you are sensible to sun.

  • Forest walks come in different levels from beginners to more difficult levels. Make sure that you honestly disclose your comfort level, bring water and wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

6.

Safety & Weather

  • We are nature lovers, generally adventurers and do not mind a bit of rain. However, in the event of typhoon or strong unforeseen weather we may choose to change, postpone or cancel the activity due to safety reasons. We will alert participants as fast as we can and do our best to resume and continue the program when conditions are safe. We can not be held responsible for weather. Participants may chose to subscribe to a travel insurance in order to be financially compensated if that were to happen.

7.

If rules are repetitively broken, we may choose to ban a participant from our program. We shall issue no refund, since the rules where informed ahead of time.

These rules are here to make sure that everyone in our programs have fun, feel safe and can fully make the best of our time together. We hope that you will value us for it.
