Mangroves are vital marine ecosystems to preserve for their rich biodiversity as well as their key role and function in helping us fight climate change through their ability to store carbon. Learn more about them, their value, ecology and how to protect them in this ecology specialty.
This class perfect for beginners who would like to refresh their base knowledge in marine ecology and learn about mangroves ecosystems.

Standards

  • Understand the importance of mangroves and of other blue carbon ecosystems

  • Learn about different mangroves types and ecology

  • Get introduced to conservation practices, mangroves nurseries and planting

  • Learn to recognize 7 of the most common types of mangroves in the Philippines

Inclusions

  • 1 classroom session 

  • 1 field excursion including guided tour in the Mangroves to complement classroom session and develop identification skills of trees, marine and terrestrial organisms present in this ecosystem

  • Vegetarian lunch & snacks included

Timelines & dates

This class is usually a 1 day session from 8 am to 3 pm with classroom session in the morning followed by in water session to complement the theory.

 

Classes are available any day upon request + confirmed booking.

Start time can vary so double check on the specific date you are interested to book. To insure availabilities, we require you inquire and reserve your slot with a few week's notice. 

Class participation fee

The standard fee for this course is 3,500php and includes all theory, and activity. It also includes vegetarian lunch and snacks.​​​
