Environmental footprint calculator

Every living thing on this planet has a positive and a negative impact on its surrounding and environment. Nothing is good or bad, it is all about balance and respect of life in all of its complexity. Yet, it is no secret that our lifestyles as humans are posing a heavy weight on the planet causing alarming impacts on the climate, and mass extinctions of species. For a better future, it is important to keep on learning how can we do better. How can we restore balance. At society and corporate level, but as well at individual level. We all have a role to play. For that, it starts with looking at reality. What is our individual impact?

Calculating our environmental footprint is complex, but here we provide multiple tools to get started on your journey to reduce your impact.

Consumption

HOW MUCH PLASTIC WASTE DO YOU LEAVE BEHIND?

Every minute, at least

1 million

PLASTIC BOTTLES

are being purchased. This resulted in around 25 million tons of plastic waste in 2023 only — most of which is not recycled and ends up in landfills where it takes about 450yrs to break down.

1 million

PLASTIC BAGS

are being thrown after a "working life" of an average of 15 minutes total. A single plastic bag can have a life expectancy of more than 1000 year, depending on where it will be left.

8 000

"PAPER" CUPS

are being used by the global leader in the coffee industry. 20 billions are estimated to be used by the total industry. Most paper take away cups are coated with plastic along with a plastic lid.

12

MARINE ORGANISMS DIE

from plastic ingestion or entanglement. This include sea turtles, whales, dolphins, fish, sea birds, corals, and many other.

What is your responsibility in it?

GROUP 2

Yeay, you are doing better than most in terms of plastic consumption. Thank you for your efforts! Since you are so well started, how about making it even better?

Screenshot 2024-08-21 at 5.14.02 PM.png

GROUP 3

You are in the average range of consumers. This means, that we would be so happy to show you so many easy steps to reduce your footprint, without drastically changing your life.

Carbon footprint

HOW MUCH GREENHOUSE GASES ARE YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Excessive emission of greenhouse gases are causing climate change.
Which leads to

Ocean warming

& ECOSYSTEMS EXTINCTION

The ocean absorbs heat. As the planet is warming, it does too. This has consequence at species & ecosystem levels, such as the melting of glaciers in the polar circle, or the mass bleaching of corals in the tropics, threatening the millions of species depending on them.

Sea water level

RISING

As the ocean warms, glaciers are melting  adding water into the pool. This means that the oceans are extending, threatening many coastal communities, cities and even countries to disappear by the end of the century. In the latest years, the Philippines has observed sea level rise about three times faster that of the global average.

Ocean acidity

CHANGING

The ocean absorbs a high quantity of COâ‚‚ due to our high emissions, so much that it is starting to change its chemistry and PH level. As the ocean becomes more acidic, this becomes problematic for many species living in it, especially those building calcium carbonate systems such as corals or gastropods.

Extreme weathers

OF ALL KINDS

The warming of the atmosphere is causing a general imbalance of the climate. Storms & typhoons are predicted to become stronger and more frequent, along with extreme weathers of all kinds, from droughts to floods, hurricane to sand storms, depending on the area. Ability to farm, or even to live in certain regions in the planet might be compromised.

GROUP 1

Congratulations! You are well started in your environmental journey and have impressively low carbon footprint. Would you like to take a step further to support the earth? Let's have a look.

GROUP 2

Well done! Your carbon footprint is under the climate change carbon footprint maximum recommended target per person. Keep it like that! Would you like to try to take a step further?

Screenshot 2024-08-22 at 11.21.33 AM.png

GROUP 3

Good news, your carbon footprint is amongst the average in Asia and below so many other country. Bad news, it is higher than the climate change mitigation recommended targets per individual. Find out more.

Screenshot 2024-08-22 at 11.23.13 AM.png

GROUP 4

Unfortunately, compared to both the average in the Philippines, in Asia or the recommended limits: your carbon emissions are too high. There are ways to reduce them, and it starts by awareness. Let's have a look :)
