Divemaster Internship

Becoming a PADI Divemaster is a doorway to a multitude of opportunities for ocean passionate who simply cannot imagine their lives without more and more salty marine experiences. Divemaster is the first level of professional diving and will allow you to pursue a career in diving. During the DM course you will be developing your skills, knowledge and confidence guided by dive instructors who will mentor you into becoming an inspiring dive professional. All along the program you will be introduced to new theory and a wide range of skills you will slowly need to earn proficiency in. From the mechanical side of diving and perfectly understand your gear, as well as the physics and biology aspects of scuba diving. But also understand better how to navigate your environment, plan a dive according to tides, navigate and map a dive site. You’ll learn a lot about safety, your own and others, and practice rescue skills, along with many scenarios to help you understand how to manage a group of divers and keep diving safe and fun. Since Divemaster is the first level of becoming a dive pro, you will also be introduced on how to teach divers. You will learn to master demonstration of skills to a professional level and assist Dive Instructors in teaching PADI dive courses. By the end of your course upon certification, you will be a Padi member and confident dive professional allowed to guide certified divers for fun dives with the assurance that you can navigate and take care of everyone’s safety and only worry about the dive being great. You will also be able to assist Scuba instructor teaching courses, discover scuba diving or teach on your own scuba refreshers.

Pre-requirements

  • Ability to swim and float comfortably (no swimming aid)

  • 40 logged dives by the start of the course

  • Padi Rescue Diver & EFR Training within last 2 years -

  • Signed Medical Clearance

Why these requirements?

The divemaster course is the first level of professional course for Padi, not only the skills are important to keep you safe, but at this stage, you must have the level and be able to carry the responsibility to take care of other divers. This is why even to start the course, you need to have a certain level required.

Timelines

It takes time to become a dive professional and the time you will need also varies depending on your profile, previous dive experience and learning speed. How long you want to stay and spend on doing your divemaster training depends on yourself and how much you’d want to get out of your training – taking longer will make you better of course.

 

Our minimum stay is 8 weeks for divers that already fit the pre-requisites (week-ends off). If you have the time to stay longer after your DM to gain experience, we welcome & discount stays up to 24 weeks if you would like to volunteer your skills for CRCP.

If you would like to develop your spotting skills and understanding of reef ecosystem, we recommend you pair this course with an ecology and conservation one such as a reef specialist. Read more about it here.

Course participation fee

This course's fee is 35,000 PHP per week with a minimum requirement of 8 weeks and stays up to 16 weeks.

Inclusions: 

  • All dive gear rental 

  • Marine environmental fee costs

  • All Padi divemaster required workshops

  • Daily guided teaching dives 4 days per week (week-ends are off, wednesday are dry theory)

  • Breakfast and lunch are included during week days with vegetarian diet

  • Basic accommodation (shared type) is included 

  • Scuba diving advanced buoyancy skills training with instructor 

  • 1 week program included

  • Free pick up and transfer from siquijor port

  • CRCP T-shirt

Not included: 

  • Dinner (your accommodation is near many restaurants with many options from 150php meal to western options)

  • Activities and meals during week-ends (but of course, your accommodation is)

  • Padi application fee
