1 week fish specialty program

This program is designed as an in depth training session for scuba divers who wish to develop their knowledge about tropical coral reefs and enhance their identification skills on reef fish at family level, and a few species. During this program, you will learn about their ecology, behavior, conservation status, as well as observe them in their natural habitat and understand how to recognize them. (Program for scuba divers only) 

Inclusions

  • Daily ecology and conservation lectures on fish identification, from broad family level to more specialized into key species identification, fish maturity phases, behavior, etc. 

  • 10 guided scuba dives with an instructor for identification skills of reef fish to complement the morning lectures 

  • Conservation skills building

SCUBA DIVING
(Mandatory)

This program is only available for scuba divers. We consider scuba diving a powerful tool in order to learn and observe such shy and fast organisms for a long time in their natural environment.

Not interested in scuba diving? You may have a look at our 1 day marine classes, they are available for snorkelers.

Pre-requirements

Scuba Diving format

  • An open water certification (PADI, SSI, RAID, CMAS, etc.) is required*.

  • and a minimum of 30 dives including at least 1 this year OR a buoyancy training (2 dives) with CRCP done this year*.​​

Why these requirements?

During the course, you will be learning about small fragile marine organisms and be needing to come very close from them. For your safety (some may sting) and theirs, it is important that you master good buoyancy control and precision of your movements in the water before we do so. This will also make scuba diving much more efficient and enjoyable for you. If you need, we are happy to provide such training ahead of the program. 

Timelines 

This program is 6 nights / 5 days of activities:

  • Arrival and check in on Sunday afternoon / evening to be ready for activities the next morning

  • Activities starts at 8 am on Monday

  • Program end and departure on Saturday morning

  • Basic shared accommodation are included during this timeframe (if you wish to upgrade to private accommodation, this is possible for an additional fee of 500PHP extra per night, let us know)

  • Breakfast and lunch meals (vegetarian) are included + snacks. (Dinner is not included, but don't worry your accommodation is near many restaurants with options for all preferences & budget types.) 

  • Every day, activities start at 8am and end around 3 - 4pm. 

  • Dive or snorkeling equipment is included and all environmental fees and entrance to marine sanctuaries during field excursions are included as well.

  • Port pick up and back on arrival and departure day are included.

Participation fee

  • Scuba participant: 34,500PHP

A deposit of 20% is asked upon booking to secure your spot
